How to get from the airport to the city:
The airport is approximately 10 km from downtown Fortaleza and 12 km from the Meireles neighborhood, where many of the city’s main hotels are located. The route, taken via the expressway leading to the end of Avenida da Abolição, can be done by bus, taxi, Uber, or rental car.

Bus:
Fortaleza Airport has bus lines that are part of the public transportation system, managed by the Urban Transportation Company of Fortaleza (ETUFOR). You can check the routes and departure times on the official ETUFOR website. Although this is the most economical form of transportation, many routes can be long with multiple stops along the way. Therefore, for those staying in Beira-Mar (Meireles), the best option is the 917 line – Airport/Beira-Mar, costing R$10 (subject to change). More details about the route can also be found here.
Taxi:
One of the options available for those arriving at Fortaleza Airport is the taxi service. However, it is worth noting that there are two types of taxis in the city operated by two different companies:
Common Taxi (Coopertaxi):
- Operates with a taximeter.
Rates:
- R$5.75 to start the trip + R$3.42 per km (flag 1).
- R$5.75 to start the trip + R$4.49 per km (flag 2).

Special Taxi (Coopaero):
- Instead of using a taximeter, Coopaero taxis follow a fixed price table that varies according to the distance traveled. For those going to more distant places, such as resorts outside the city, the fare can be negotiated directly with the driver.

We recommend using only the airport’s accredited taxis for greater safety.
Uber:
Uber’s exclusive pick-up point is located at the curb on the 1st floor, near door 6 of the arrivals hall.
Airport Transfer:
The pick-up point for the ForYou transfer service is located at the curb near the Check-in area, close to door 1. There is also a service shop for purchasing tickets in the airport lobby, in front of the arrivals area. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the company’s website to save time and ensure availability.

Car:
If you plan to rent a car to get around the city and visit other locations, you’ll find various car rental companies at the airport, such as Localiza (Hertz), Movida, Asa, and Unidas.
The journey to Beira-Mar (Meireles) takes between 20 to 30 minutes (14 km), depending on the stopping point along the coastline and traffic.
